ed endings
The pronunciation of the “ED” endings is very important in
English as they are used frequently:

The ED ending has 3 sounds.

1.        T
2.        D
3.        ID  - separate syllable.

The problem is that  English learners use the ID ending too
often, but it is the
least common of all three endings.  This
gives words extra syllables when they
should not have them.

Example:
  • Played
Correct: 1 syllable and a D ending.
Incorrect: 2 syllables and an ID ending.

Here are some examples of words that have a T or a D sound
at the end.  All these words are 1 syllable.

Words that have an extra syllable when adding ED are words
that end in
T or D.
